Paul Allen Szymanski

Paul Allen Szymanski, age 53, a longtime resident of Perrysburg and currently of Toledo, passed away October 5, 2021, at The Toledo Hospital. Paul was born January 11, 1968, in Toledo and graduated from Start High School in 1986 where he had played basketball and ran cross country. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Toledo in 1991. Paul was the Executive Director of The Catholic Club in Toledo for more than 25 years where he applied his conscientious, resourceful, and forward-thinking mind to consistently bring about advancement to the organization. In his free time, Paul could typically be found assisting others. He coached his kid's basketball and cross-country CYO teams at his home parish, St. Rose in Perrysburg, for many years where he also assisted on several Eagle Scout projects. Paul was also a member of the Perrysburg Knights of Columbus Council 7978. He was always quick to lend a hand, typically had at least one home improvement project going, and loved to find a deal. Paul’s outgoing and friendly nature gained him lasting friendships and inspired many. He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, proud and supportive father, and faithful Catholic. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Larry and Carol Szymanski; wife, Diana; children, Joshua, Jacob, Jeremy, and Janelle; siblings, Cindy (Jamey) Booth, Debbie (Paul) Kuo, Linda (David) Orosz, Peter Szymanski, Laurie (Tom) Nahrwold and Steve (Marnie) Szymanski; nieces and nephews, Kristin, Sarah and Daniel (Stephanie) Booth, Stephanie and Jeanette Kuo, Matthew (Sarah) and Maggie Orosz, Nick Nahrwold, Kaylie and Max Szymanski, Meghan (Chris) Schmidbauer, Mollylin (Tim) Britt, Chris Batman, and Casey Best; and in-laws, Leslie (Margaret) Best and Kathy Best. He was also preceded in death by a brother in infancy, Patrick Szymanski; and brother-in-law, Doug Best. Family and friends are invited to visit from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2021, in the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m. followed by a sharing of memories. Services will begin with prayers in the funeral home at 9:45 a.m., Monday, October 11, 2021, and proceed to St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 East Front Street, Perrysburg, for 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass. Committal rites and burial will follow at St. Rose Parish Cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations in Paul’s name be made to the Catholic Club, 1601 Jefferson Avenue, Toledo, OH 43604.
