Paul is survived by his son, William Sloop; his daughter, Angela; and his grandchildren, Kyler Hootman, Megan Claybaugh, and Rylie Osmun. Paul was preceded in death by his spouse, Christine Kaiser-Sloop.
In Paul's life, steady devotion and quiet purpose showed through in the things he loved and tended. He found satisfaction in the patient work of gardening-especially in his roses-and took equal pleasure in the lines and character of cars, notably his MGC GT. He also enjoyed traveling and music, interests that reflected an enduring appreciation for beauty, craft, and the wider world.
Paul also held a meaningful interest in supporting the Crossnore School, founded in 1913 by members of the Sloop family. The mission of Crossnore Communities for Children-providing holistic care and services for children and their families throughout North Carolina-was a cause he valued and sought to help.
