Paul Marvin Shurtz, Jr., 88, died peacefully at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice Residence on March 11, 2018. Paul was born to Paul and Mathilde (Askelson) Shurtz in Toledo on August 7, 1929. Paul was a 1947 graduate of Libbey High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force. During the Korean War, he participated in the Berlin Germany Airlift of 1948. He attended the University of Toledo and retired from General Motors after 37 years of service in the area of Statistical Process Control. Paul loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was actively involved in bowling, golf, and dancing. He was a social man who was involved in several activities at the Hunt Senior Center. His family and friends will always remember him as a caring, generous person. Paul will be loved and missed by his daughter, Taryn (Lance) Miley; sisters, Doris (Larry) Przeslawski and Marilyn Bexten; and many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Tucker; and brother-in-law, Leo Bexten. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Neville Shank Funeral Home, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, Ohio 43528 (419-865-8879) where his family will receive friends after 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions in Paul’s memory may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Promedica Ebeid Hospice Residence for their exceptional care of Paul.
