Paul Michael Kornowa

May 16, 1949 — July 1, 2021

Paul Michael Kornowa, known to many as “Butch” or “Bubba”, entered into heaven on July 1, 2021, while surrounded by loved ones. Butch learned the importance of a strong work ethic at a young age, first delivering papers on Booth Avenue and later playing drums in band gigs. After graduating from Woodward High School and the University of Toledo, his knack for numbers led him to a career in IT, starting with AP Parts, then Toledo Edison, and finally 35+ years at ProMedica. Spending time with family and friends breathed life into Bubba. When the air filled with laughter and conversation, you would catch him sitting back, smiling, saying, “Now this is what it’s all about.” His five loving daughters were his bright, shining stars, his sister and brother-in-law anchored him, and his grandkids were the lights of his life. He was a loving uncle and great-uncle, and his cousins were more like his siblings. He was sure to pass on Ukrainian traditions and was always there for his ‘family of friends’. No matter the gathering, his joy for life and infectious smile always made them more fun. Whether you golfed with him for decades or were a first-time guest at his table, one thing was for certain - he welcomed you with open arms and a hug that spoke its own language. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Jo (Sevenish) Kornowa. He is survived by daughters, Melissa Waters, Megan (Steve) Weichel, Alyssa Kornowa, Allison (Ryan) Ames, and Lauren Kornowa (Myron Gladle); grandchildren, Claire, Riley, Alex, Carly, Cole, Henry, Haley, Emma, Paul, Elliana, Noah, and Liam. He also filled the hearts of his sister, Patti and brother-in-law, Jerry Bray. He was a loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Those who remember him will feel his love through the beat of the music, the drive of the golf ball, the love of the family, and the drumming of thunder. He will forever be missed and his legacy of generosity and kindness will live on through us all. May His Memory Be Eternal. Visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. (West of Corey Rd.) on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 2-8 pm with a scripture service and sharing of memories at 7 pm. Visitation will continue at Corpus Christi University Parish, 2955 Dorr St., Toledo on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 9 am until the Memorial Mass at 10 am. Interment will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi University Parish or Woodward Alumni Hall of Fame Association.
