Paul B. Hood, age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 31, 2022. He was born March 11, 1927, in Toledo to Earl J. and L. Gertrude (Nopper) Hood. Paul was a 1945 graduate of Central Catholic High School and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Mifflin APA207 as a Radar Tech. Upon discharge he earned an Electrical Engineering degree at the University of Detroit. After graduation in 1951 he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Cready.
Paul started and ran his business, Hood Electrical Contractors, in NW Ohio for 30 years. He loved his work, and said he owed his success to loyal associates. After a failed attempt at retirement, he partnered in E.T. Electric.
Paul was active in many organizations: the Toledo Chapter National Electrical Contractors Association and its Joint Apprentice and Training Committee, Electro Club, Sylvania Country Club, Christ the King Parish, Notre Dame Academy, Condo East Association (Sanibel, FL), Country Walk Condominium Association (Sylvania, OH) and his favorite, “The Mystic Knights of the Sea”, a poker group since high school. Paul also enjoyed the ‘Honor Flight’ to Washington D.C.
He is lovingly survived by his wife and consultant of 70 years, Carol; daughters, Kathleen (Sister Marie Kathleen SND), Karen (Oreste) Gallo, Colleen Hood, Connie (Mike) Schenk; son, Kevin Hood; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly (Peter) Reynolds; parents; sister, Mary Jane (Les) Milliron; and brother, Duane (Jan) Hood.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2022, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where a scripture service and sharing of memories will begin at 7:45 p.m. Funeral Mass is 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, with additional visitation starting at 9:00 a.m.
Military honors and interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
Memorials are suggested to Christ the King Endowment Fund, Notre Dame Academy, St. Francis DeSales High School, or Central Catholic High School.
