Husband, Father, Friend, Inventor and Adventurer. Paul A. Dicke passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side. He was born in Bridgeport, CT to Allen A. and Amber Dicke. He grew up in Upper Montclair, New Jersey and on Long Island where he became an accomplished sailor. He served in WWII in the Pacific Theater and returned a decorated veteran. He married Elizabeth Thomas in 1947 and moved to New Bremen, Ohio to raise a family. He worked and helped build Crown Controls Corporation in various positions including Chief Engineer where his designs and patents for electronic and mechanical devices were used in manufacturing of various products. He retired in 1980. Paul and Liz built their home The Anchorage near Labelle, Florida. Their love for Great Lakes sailing and adventure drew them to the warm Caribbean and Gulf waters of Florida where they sailed and cruised for nearly 30 years. Paul was active in St. Pauls United Church of Christ in New Bremen, volunteered in Scouting and other local organizations. He was a member of St. Marys Boat Club and was Past Commodore of the Turkey Creek Yacht Club, and helped the Ortona Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ruth Dicke Howard and brother-in-law Hal, Mark and Peter Dicke his infant sons, Michael Dicke his grandson. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the love of his life, Elizabeth, their sons Paul A. Janet Dicke, Jr. of St. Marys, Ohio, David T. Ruth Dicke of Perrysburg, Ohio and daughter Elizabeth A. Dicke Jeff Snider of Mendon, Ohio, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and his brother Allen Eleanor Dicke of Anaheim, California. We miss him, but are comforted in knowing that his smile, positive attitude and story telling will please his Heavenly Host. A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends at the Perrysburg Boat Club, 111 Water Street, Perrysburg, Ohio, June 13th from 2-6 pm. Similar receptions will be held in New Bremen, Ohio and Ortona Florida in the future. Donations in his name can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
