Patsy A. Webb

March 22, 1944 — July 21, 2013

Patsy Skaggs Webb went home to the Lord on Sunday, July 21st, 2013. She had bravely thrown down the gauntlet when diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma almost twelve years ago, and she waged a ferocious battle, but in the end, surrounded by her loving family, she fell asleep in the Lord, peacefully. Patsy Skaggs was born in the family farm house in Southern Ohio to Emma and Mannie Skaggs. She was the youngest of three daughters. Family folklore is full of fun remembrances of growing up on the farm, including the time Patsy disappeared to visit the new piglets next door, and one followed her home. Patsy attended Hilliard schools, graduating from Hilliard High School. Later, she earned her BA, cum laude, from Spring Harbor University at age of 58. While in high school, Patsy, ever the over-achiever, rose to become Head Majorette. She also achieved minor fame with her fire baton at night football games! No one messed with Patsy and her baton! During her lengthy illness, Patsy received enormous support from her family and friends. Her grandsons, Ethan, Drew and Owen Moses were a constant source of love, amusement and comfort. They were the best medicine she received. She was an intelligent, kind, and generous person who made friends easily, and kept them forever. Patsy had stayed in close contact with her high school coterie, who had blessed her with the nick-name Pastie. During a recent visit, this tight band of friends, who she so adored, buoyed her and brightened her spirits by doing their old cheers and routines for her. After a varied, extensive and successful career, Patsy was employed at Zepf Community Mental Health Center after her retirement from St. Ursula Academy, a job she deeply cared about. In addition, Patsy was instrumental in the creation of the St. Ursula Crew Team, a volunteer role she was most proud of. Patsy Skaggs Webb was predeceased by her father, Mannie Skaggs. She is survived by her husband, Richard; her treasured daughter, Jennifer Webb Naylor and her husband, Tom and his family; her cherished grandsons, Drew Howard, Ethan Howard and Owen Moses Naylor; her loving mother, Emma Skaggs; and her devoted sisters, Ella Pfeifer and Carol Richmond. Patsy is also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, dear friends and colleagues. She simply loved you all. There will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 25, at 11 am in Gesu Catholic Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd., Toledo, OH 43607. In lieu of donations or flowers, the family asks that you do something kind for your neighbor. Arrangements by Walker Funeral Home. Condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com
