Patrick John Tansey

July 2, 1962 — April 18, 2017

Taken far too early, Patrick joined our heavenly father on April 18, 2017 at the age of 54. Born July 2, 1962 in Toledo, Ohio to Patrick and Rita Tansey, Pat leaves behind a legacy of passion, pride, and fierce devotion to family and friends. He was blessed to have been cared for until the very end by his incredible wife of 30 years, Linda Tansey. Patrick was proud to have attended and graduated from Gesu Elementary and Central Catholic High School here in Toledo, OH. He went on to study Climate Control Technology at the University of Toledo after which he began a more than 30 year career working for multiple mechanical engineering and construction firms throughout NW Ohio and SE Michigan. Part of Pat’s legacy unquestionably will live on through the hundreds of brick and mortar projects in the region which he oversaw and executed. Pat left an indelible mark on everyone with whom he came in contact. Rarely did a conversation with Pat end without him having an insight, opinion, or in some cases a definitive stance to the contrary of your assertion. He was a wonderful teller of stories most of which left the listener with a smile, a laugh, and often a greater appreciation for the passion with which he lead his life. Growing up Pat always had an affinity for baseball and to the end remained an unwavering fan of his Detroit Tigers. Those closest to Pat knew exactly where to find him when the Tigers were on television and he loved going to games at both old Tiger Stadium and later Comerica Park. Another passion of Pats was enjoying the glory of the great outdoors. As an active participant in the Naturalist Scouts during high school Pat regularly went on extended camping and bike trips. Later in life Pat made sure to share his love of the outdoors with his family consistently taking them on camping trips often to his beloved Northern Michigan. One of his most joyous personal accomplishments, however, was finding and rebuilding the Jeep CJ5 he drove in his youth. Taking it down to the frame, Pat lovingly restored it to show quality condition and relished the opportunity to take it on long drives with the top down with his beloved wife Linda at his side. Preceding him in death are his mother, Rita Catherine Tansey; and nephew, Zachary Bond. Surviving is his wife, Linda; children, Elizabeth (Adam) Howell, Kate, Sean and Michael; grandchildren, Parker and Everett; father, Patrick Tansey; siblings, Sheila (Steve) Bond, Chris (Julie) and Mark Tansey; and his many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 1 - 7 p.m. where a scripture service will be held at 6:45 p.m. The family will conduct a prayer service in the funeral home on Monday April 24, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass at Gesu Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd., at 10:00 a.m. Interment services will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery.
