Patricia Mae Zimmerman

Patricia Mae (Scott) Zimmerman, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 in Waterville, Ohio. She was born on June 6, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio to Lyman and Flora (Pierce) Scott. Known to many family members as Patrink (to distinguish from other Patricias) and to all her friends as Pat. She graduated from Oberlin High School and then went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in physical education from Kent State and a post baccalaureate licensure in K-12 education with specialization in learning disabilities from Bowling Green State University. Pat was first employed by the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities and then the Maumee City Schools and finally retired from the North Baltimore School District. In 1948, Pat married Dr. John L. Zimmerman and raised three daughters and two sons. She loved to garden, was a voracious reader and kept engaged in current events. Pat was a past president of the Maumee Mothers Club and sang in the Maumee Senior Center Choir for close to 20 years. Pat will be remembered by others as an incredibly generous and nonjudgmental person who stepped up to help friends, and even strangers, in need. Pat is survived by her children, Ellen (Jon Huibregtse) Zimmerman, Carolyn (Thomas McGinnis) Zimmerman, David Zimmerman, Kurt (Nancy) Zimmerman and Jane Zimmerman (David) Bohrer; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Raymond and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Elizabeth Walker. Services dates and time will be announced at a later date. The Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
