Patricia Stephen

Patricia Ann Stephen, 90, of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 8, 1931, in Toledo, OH where she was raised alongside her siblings by her late parents, Floyd and Emma (Terry) Hackman. She later married Andre Stephen where they raised their three children together. The two held a special bond and remained ‘forever friends’ to each other, despite the divorce that took place.

Upon graduation from Burnham High School in 1950, Patricia furthered her education and obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo. Shortly after she became an elementary school teacher for Toledo Public Schools before advancing into the Board of Education. Many of her coworkers remember her as a role model, a mentor, and a talented woman.

Patricia had a special place in her heart for the simple joys in life. She greatly cherished her family holiday parties (especially Christmas), spending time with and spoiling her grand and great grandchildren, as well as eating her daughters homecooked meals, particularly angel hair spaghetti and taco salads. However, as her family knows best, it goes without saying that Patricia found the most enjoyment in shopping. Her favorite stores included At Home and Sam’s Club where she would faithfully browse the sale racks before returning home with many new goodies to share with others. Though she never bought much for herself, she was constantly thinking about other people and would frequently buy things just in case someone else needed it. Her pride and joy were her grand and great grandchildren who will cherish their memories with her dearly.

Not only was Patricia a witty, comforting, humorous, and loving woman, but she also never failed to put a smile on someone’s face. She was always there to help her family, never saying “No”, which certainly saved her grandkids from trouble a time or two. She was also a collector of smiley faces, which will undoubtedly remind her family members of her every time they see one.

Patricia is survived by her children, Toni (Bob) Strack, Grant (Monica) Stephen; grandchildren, Jordan Strack (Alex Meiring), Logan Strack (Katlyn Gall), Riley (Jackie) Strack, Brittani Stephen, Madison Stephen, Lauren (Jordan) Konz, Evan Guthrie; great grandchildren Kennedy, Nora, Ivy. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and daughter, Tracy Stephen Guthrie.
