Patricia Ann Scaggs

Patricia A. Scaggs, 76, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the Genoa Retirement Village, after a lengthy illness. Pat was born in Sandusky County, Ohio on March 17, 1948, and raised by her parents, Jesse and Thelma (Smith) Miller. She graduated from Genoa High School in 1966. Pat married the love of her life, David Scaggs, whom she met by chance at Starr & Lill’s, in 1976.

Pat worked for several businesses in the area, most notably, the former Starr & Lill’s, for over 20 years, where she was known for her famous chicken & dumplings. She retired after many years working at Miller’s New Market, here in Genoa. Pat was a lifelong member of the Genoa American Legion Auxiliary and was active in all of their activities.

Pat was always active in the community and wherever she went, she inevitably knew someone, she was by all means, an outgoing soul. She never met a stranger! She liked to sing and often would take her husband, Dave, with her to sing Karaoke, she played the piano too, and serenaded Dave with a beautiful rendition of “Moon River”, his favorite. Pets held a soft spot in Pat’s heart and she always was ready to take in a stray cat or dog. She and Dave enjoyed taking car rides just to see the wildlife around the area.

Pat is survived by her loving husband, David; daughter, Sheila (Josh) Oswald; son, Bob Basham; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Verna Dunbar. Her parents; son, Scott Bee; and several siblings preceded her in death.

Visitation for Pat has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio, where the funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to consider the Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E.
