Patricia Ann Losiewicz, 76, of Oak Harbor, OH, passed away Monday, June 21, 2010 at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, OH. Patricia was born on October 22, 1933 in Lorain, OH, the daughter of Frank and Mary Jakopin Losiewicz. She graduated in 1951 from Lorain High School, Lorain, OH where she earned two varsity letters in volleyball, was a member of the Girls Athletic Association and the A Cappella Choir. She went on to play shortstop for the Oberlin Blue Flames and the Lorain Old Dutch Brewerettes softball teams. Patricia worked as a secretary for National Tube in Lorain, OH from 1951-1960. She also worked at the Erie Army Depot, Port Clinton, OH from 1960-65 and New Departure, Sandusky, OH from 1965-1980, retiring in 1980 due to disability. Patricia was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, OH and a former member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Lorain, OH. She was also a member of the K.S.K.J. Lodge 101, Lorain and Our Ladys Rosary Makers, Kentucky. Patricia was the originator of naming a rose for the singer/actress Judy Garland. A fan of Miss Garland for years, Pat succeeded in having the Judy Garland Rose planted at Ferncliff Cemetery, NY, Grand Rapids, MN, Hershey, PA, and the Judy Garland Rose Garden at Glen Island, NY with 100 Judy Garland roses. Patricia also worked with another fan from North Carolina to obtain a Life-Time Achievement Award for Judy Garland from the Grammy Association. Survivors include: Cousins: Barbara Kenneth Pogachar, Donna Pulcer, and Donald Lorene Jacopin, all of Lorain, OH; Robert Martie Rovan, John Heefner, and Barbara Anne Heefner all of Tucson, AZ. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother: Frank Losiewicz, Jr., and special friend: Shirley Stamm. Patricia will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father David Ritchie at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2010 in St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, OH, where the body will lie in state from 9:30 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials in Patricias memory be given to St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, OH. Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor is assisting the family with arrangements.
