Patricia Ann Leighton

Jul 27, 1944 — Oct 30, 2026

Patricia Anne Brady Leighton Norman, 82, of Elyria, OH, passed away on October 25, 2026.

Patsy, as she was known by her family, was born on July 27, 1944, in Charleston, West Virginia, and was the youngest of five children born to Melville Brady and Jessie Miller Brady.

After graduating from Charleston High School, Pasty attended The Charleston General Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse in the summer of 1966. Her passion for helping others was a central tenet of her life.

In 1970, Patsy joined the U.S. Air Force as a 1st Lieutenant, in the clinical nursing field, and was stationed at Maxwell AFB, Alabama where she worked with soldiers returning from the Vietnam War. She was later stationed in Thule, Greenland and Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. She rose to the rank of Captain before separating from the service in 1975.

Wright Patterson brought two changes to Patsy's life, an interest in oncology nursing and the love of her life, Gregory C. Leighton, whom she married after separating from the Air Force.

Patsy and Greg made their life in northwest Ohio. Patsy worked for The Toledo Hospital for eight years in the oncology unit. In 1993 she changed fields to Hospice Nursing, working for Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the next 18 years. In 2010, Greg lost his battle with cancer.

After several years, Patsy found comfort in her friendship with Donald E. Norman. They married in April 2017 and enjoyed their life together until Don's death in 2021.

Patsy was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for most of her life. The Church and her church family were important parts of Patsy's life.

Patsy is survived by her sisters, Isobel Fields (Gary) of Sudlersville, Maryland and Pamela Teel (Wayne) of Springport, Indiana. Patsy was predeceased by her parents, her sister Karen Rice (Joe) and her brother Andy Brady. She will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.

Patsy will be laid to rest at a graveside service at 10:00 am on Monday, November 9, 2026, at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery in Perrysburg, Ohio.
