Patricia Ann Hilfinger

Patricia Ann Hilfinger, age 87, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023. Born in Toledo, Pat was raised in the South end, attending Harvard Elementary School and Libbey High School, where she met the love of her life, Robert Hilfinger. They married in 1955 and shared 44 years together, raising their three beloved daughters.

Pat loved her work as a nurse. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse through Toledo Public Schools in 1975, then a Registered Nurse through the University of Toledo in 1985. Her servant’s heart was evident in the places and roles she had as a nurse, from 22 years in the Burn Unit at St. Vincent’s Hospital, to 10 years at the Veteran Administration Hospital in Ann Arbor, and lastly to her final 5 years at Sunset Communities.

Pat’s selfless and giving nature were also seen in her care for her family, which was her pride and joy. She took many trips with them to Fort Myers Beach, FL. She also loved shopping, particularly for colorful outfits that fit with her character as the life of the party.

Pat’s family would like to offer a thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and especially to the Lakes of Sylvania for their amazing kind and compassionate care of their mother during the final months of her life.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, A Gallagher and Delores Lauer Schwartz; and her husband, Robert M. Hilfinger in 1999. She is survived by her children; Susanne (Dr. James) Brue, Jean Frederick, and Lisa (Robert Sr.) Nunnally; grandchildren, Nicole (Nicholas) Brue Morris, Dr. Christopher R. Brue, and Alexandra (Ian Windau) Frederick; and special family members, Kathryn Nunnally, and Robert Nunnally Jr.

Friends and family are invited to visit Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave, Toledo, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Committal will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Toledo Area Humane Society or the Ability Center of Toledo.
