Patricia Beechler Guest

April 28, 1925 — November 24, 2011

Patricia Beechler Guest passed away on Thanksgiving afternoon at Promedica Hospice of Sylvania, her daughters at her bedside. Born in St. John’s Michigan, she graduated from Michigan State University, meeting Second Lieutenant Army Air Corps Navigator James Floyd Guest on a blind date in May 1946 and was married in October of that same year. The Guests moved from Jackson Michigan to the Toledo area, had four daughters, and settled on West Front Street in Perrysburg in 1958. Pat was active with the Toledo Women’s District Golf Association (50+ years), Highland Meadows Golf Club, Gamma Phi Beta Association, and United Way. Activities ranged from Girl Scout Leader to community support for the Toledo Mental Health Association. She swung a tennis racquet at the Carranor Club, and was a member of several bridge, garden and gourmet clubs. As mother of four daughters, she enjoyed sewing skirts and dresses for the family and developed professional monogramming skills on her Meistergram machine—the original freehand one-of-a-kind stitchery that her clients adored. She was known as the “Monogram Lady.” She was preceded in death by oldest daughter, Karen Kay in 1994 and two years later, husband James Floyd; she is survived by daughters Patricia G. (Howard “Fritz”) Horne, Marcia G. (Michael) Linley, and Lisa G. Perks, eight grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. PBG not only monogrammed letters, she left her initials on the hearts of many. She will never be forgotten. A January 20th, 2012 memorial service is planned at the First United Methodist Church, 3:00 P.M., Pastor Terry Powell, officiating. Interment will be at a private ceremony in Charlotte, Michigan on July 14th. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Promedica Hospice, Sylvania, Ohio; Perrysburg Area Historic Museum; Planned Parenthood of Northwest Ohio; or First United Methodist Church of Perrysburg. Arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133).
