On Sunday, December 14th, 2014, Patricia “Patty” Lynn Shipman Fretz was called to heaven. Patty was a dynamo, a mover and a shaker, a catalyst, and a warm-hearted woman, all rolled into one. Patty is survived by her husband of 41 years, Arnold “Arnie” Fretz, and her three sons, Jason (Angel) Fretz, Jonathan Fretz, and Ryan (Amanda) Fretz. She is also survived by her mother, Marion Nanny Shipman, her sister, Wendy (Bill) Norris, three nieces, Carrie (Derek) Shultz, Susie (Matthew) Potter, and Kimberly (Scott) Mancino, her grandson, Ryker Fretz, and her grandson who will arrive in February, Hayden Fretz. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Shipman. Patty was born on August 14th, 1950 and lived most of her life in the Toledo area. She attended Start High School and graduated from Bowling Green State University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. She began her career as a buyer for LaSalle’s until she joined her father with Shipman Realty and Insurance. Patty enjoyed spending her time at the family cottage on Vineyard Lake, playing bridge, and attending book club. She was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church. Patty was entertainer extraordinaire, she loved musicals and hosting parties at her Sylvania home, gathering her friends in celebration. Patty and Arnie also loved to travel, visiting many countries around the world. Although she will be missed, her legacy will live on forever. She will be remembered for living life to the fullest. Visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home (5155 West Sylvania Avenue Toledo, OH 43623) on Tuesday, December 16th from 2 pm to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church (4855 West Central Avenue Toledo, OH 43615) on Wednesday, December 17th at 1 pm with burial to follow immediately at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Donations made be to Epworth United Methodist Church under the advisory of Deborahs Circle.
