Patricia F. Fondessy, 84, of Clay Center, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, August 12, 2022, at Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. She was born in Martin, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Buhrow) Cowan. Pat met the love of her life, Merle K. Fondessy, and they were married in Monroe, Michigan, on September 6, 1957. They spent the next 57 years together celebrating life and family, until his death on June 30, 2014.
Pat was a high school teacher for Sylvania Northview High School for over 20 years teaching business, accounting, and computer classes along with being a high school class advisor. Prior to teaching, she had been the secretary to many principals of Genoa High School, for over 20 years.
Pat and Merle loved to travel and had visited all 50 states. Many of those travels were with their children on family vacations, pop-up trailer camping in state and national parks. Later, when grandchildren came along, they too enjoyed camping with Grandma and Papa. Pat liked to visit casinos and did so all over the United States while traveling.
Pat was a loving grandmother who enjoyed being involved in her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s lives. From infants to adulthood she was there to support, celebrate, and console! Pat also had a green thumb which was evidenced by her flower and vegetable gardens.
Pat is survived by her son, Dr. Terrence (Connie) Fondessy, daughter, Cheryl (Sam Walls) Kraemer, grandchildren, Nicholas (Chandra) Fondessy, Caitlin (Matthew) Braun, Colleen Fondessy, Jennifer (Philip) Molyet, Stephanie, Nicole and Natalie Kraemer, great grandchildren, Franklin and Augustus Braun, Greyson and Weston Molyet, Ronan Stone, and Mirabelle Bishoff and more on the way, brother, William “Bill” (Reva) Cowan and sister-in-law, Kathy Fondessy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Frances, husband, Merle, grandson, Lucas Fondessy, and sister, Frances Jean Cassidy.
