Patricia Jean (Mauder) Birmingham died in her home, entering into the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ, on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021. The matriarch of one of Toledo’s most well-known families, Pat was mother to eleven, grandmother to 37 and great grandmother to seven while known as ‘Mom B’ to countless others who she welcomed into her home and heart. Born on December 28, 1945, Pat graduated from Harriet Whitney High School in Toledo in 1963, proudly graduating as a well-trained secretary and a new wife. She married the love of her life John in May of 1963 — the day after her senior prom — and began dedicating her life to the incredible family that she would forever be loved and honored for rather than pursuing any professional dreams. She served as a wife and homemaker, taking care of her children and helping raise more than a dozen others as an in-home caregiver. Pat found a new sense of purpose when she entered the workforce she’d dreamt of 40 years earlier. She began her new career with the Toledo Municipal Court in the mid-1990s and became the supervisor of the Civil Division within her first year on the job. Patricia loved her coworkers and was the heart and soul of her office for almost two decades before retiring in 2016. After retiring, Pat found joy in gardening, spending time with her growing family and loving on her dog, Lil’ Bit, who she loved with all of her heart. Pat stood by John as a faithful wife and homemaker and will be remembered and celebrated for her commitment to everyone she loved and the legacy they created. It was a life and family that Patricia loved and sacrificed for until John’s passing in November of 2020 and beyond. She is survived by 10 of her children, including six of her sons John, Michael, Joey, Josh, Jamey and Jeremy and four daughters Trish Moore, Judi Wilson, Jackie Vasquez and Juli Gears. She is also survived by her Dad, Ralph Upton, and brother, Jeff. She leaves behind a number of in-laws that loved her as their own mother, including Sarah Birmingham, Sandra Birmingham, Angie Birmingham, Bob Moore, Dan Wilson and Pedro Vasquez. Pat is preceded in death by her beloved husband John and son, Bobby, along with her mother Betty Upton, grandmother Margaret Burkhart, her “big sister” Aunt Cookie and great-granddaughters Ellie and Amara. Visitation for Patricia will be Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021 at Walker Funeral Home at 5155 Sylvania Avenue in Toledo between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Additional visitation will held on Friday, Oct. 15 from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at Northwest Christian Church, 1590 W. Temperance Road, 48182 in Temperance, Mich. with funeral services to begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment and luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Patricia’s name to Northwest Christian Church or the Northwest Ohio Alzheimer's Association.
