Pamela M. Shanks, 63, of South Dakota and formerly of Bowling Green and Perrysburg, passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at St. Charles-Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Adrian, MI on November 7, 1948 to Raymond and Beulah L. (Bailey) Frease and was married on August 9, 1969 at Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg to Bill J. Shanks. Pam began her nursing career at Wood County Hospital continuing on with Heartland of Perrysburg, Community Nursing Home in Bowling Green and for twelve years with Otterbein-Portage Valley Retirement Center until her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting and had made special blankets for her family and was a gifted amateur novelist. After her husband’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling together in their RV. She is survived by her husband, Bill J.; sons, John W. (Vicky) Shanks and James R. (Charlotte) Shanks; daughter, Janelle R. (Michael) Lavelle; grandchildren, Sonjah (fiancé Corey Decker) and Sarah Shanks, Matthew, Peter, Katherine, Rebecca and Robert Shanks, Sydnee Shanks and Skye Lavelle; great-grandchidlren, Landen and Lohgan Decker; and brother, Randy C. Frease. Pam was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kevin Frease. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 14, 2012 with Pastor Ann Marshall officiating.
