Palmer Dean Hurley, 85, of Perrysburg, OH, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, February 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 2, 1940, in Pike County KY, to Lee and Nola (Kerr) Hurley.
Dean was proud of four things in life. First and foremost his wife of 62 years. Second, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Third, his service in in the U.S. Army, serving 6 years. Fourth, his membership in the United Auto Workers Union. He worked at Peterson Spring in Holland, OH for 33 years. Most of those years he served as the Union chairman. He was a grinder operator until his retirement in 2003. He then worked part-time at Garlic Expressions in Perrysburg until January 2023.
Dean was known to love the Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio State football, family time, fishing, peanut butter and banana sandwiches and telling stories to anyone that would listen.
He is survived by his children, Yvonne (Richard) Lawicki and Michael (Jodi) Hurley; grandchildren, Melissa (John) Decker, Brittany Lawicki, Jacob (Hailey) Lawicki, Chelci (Brian) Hurley, and Teagan (Brandon) Johnson; step-grandchildren, Albert Miller and Nathan Miller; 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way; brother,Tommy Hurley; sister in law, Lois (Ricky) Hylton; brother in law, Jeffery (Kathy) Caudill; sisters-in-law, Claudia Caudill, Gwen Caudill, and Leona Caudill; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda, brothers , Tilden (Phyllis) Hurley, Donald (Judy) Hurley, and sisters, Lois Stewart and Helena Broom. Sister in law Opal Hurley . Brothers-in-law Edward Caudill, Curtis Caudill, Orville Caudill, Ivol Caudill, Cecil Ray Caudill, Loren Caudill, Jimmy Caudill ,Herb Moore, Carrol Rowe, Martin Cantrell. Sisters in law Dorothy Moore, Emma Rowe, Ina Cantrell , and his step-grandson, James Miller, step-granddaughter, Kaylee Miller.
The family wishes to express a special heartfelt thank you to Nate, Maya, Kaylei and Reagan , the dedicated caregivers that took care of “papaw” over the last eight months. We appreciate everything you did for him.
Private family services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory in Maumee, OH.
