P. Anthony Pancone

P. Anthony Pancone, age 64, died suddenly on Friday, December 16, 2011, at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, Florida. A long-time resident of Maumee, Ohio, he was born in Monroe, Michigan to Anthony and Margaret Pancone on September 19, 1947. Tony was a 1965 graduate of Catholic Central High School. He received a bachelors degree in accounting from Ferris State University in 1970. Tony, a retired accountant, was the Corporate Controller/Chief Financial Officer for various companies before becoming a self-employed accountant specializing in small business and individual income tax preparation. On October 17, 1970, he married the love of his life, Janet Hess. They met at Davis College in Toledo, Ohio. Tony and Janet celebrated their 40th anniversary with their family at Disney World in 2010. Tony enjoyed spending summer weekends boating on the Maumee River with family and friends. He truly celebrated lifehe loved traveling, going out to breakfast and lunch with friends, and making others laugh. Tony was the former president of the Maumee Jaycees, former treasurer of the Maumee Chamber of Commerce and former vice president of Phi Theta Pi fraternity at Davis College. He was also a Cub Scout leader and loved to play Santa Claus for the Maumee Jaycees in the 1980s. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Tony was very proud of his family and Italian heritage. He will be most remembered for his fun-loving nature and his selfless compassion to the needs of othersand his meatballs. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Janet; daughter, Michelle Craig Gregory, of Saint Johns, Florida; son, Steven, of Toledo, Ohio; the lights of his life, grandchildren Samantha, Zoe, and Ryan Gregory; mother, Margaret; sister, JoAnn Thomas Trombly; brothers, Michael Linda, Robert Renee, Thomas Debbie, brother-in-law, Roy Burke and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony, and sister, Rosemary Burke. Family and friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 3-8 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, Ohio 43614. Burial services will be private.
