Orville R. Young, 93, of Monclova, died Sunday, November 30, 2014. He was born to Ray and Alma (Asman) Young on November 30, 1921 in Toledo, Ohio. Orville was a graduate of Libby High School. He worked as a Supervisor of Yard Procedures at Conrail, formerly known as Pen Central, for many years. Orville was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a part of the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day and he was awarded the Bronze Star for his heroic achievements. Orville had a passion for reading, especially science magazines. He truly had the entrepreneur spirit and came up with many small business plans, including a garbage pickup plan that inspired others to produce and carry out the idea. He enjoyed thinking and inventing; a very intellectual man. He was always well dressed in an impeccably tailored suit. In his later years, Orville enjoyed traveling. Orville is survived by his loving family; daughters, Joyce A. (Jeffrey) Studer of Perrysburg, Ohio, Janet E. (Harry) Appelfeller of Bucyrus, Ohio; son, Ronald A. Young of Swanton, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Laura L. (Bancroft) Young; second wife, Alice (Polland) Young; sisters, Virginia Nuefer, Dorothy Young-McDonald; and sons, Richard E. and Robert P. Young. Friends will be received on December, 6, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133), where a memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
