Opal Mae Kruse, 86, of Rocky Ridge, Ohio died Friday, August 10, 2018 at Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. Opal was born in Whitesville, Ohio on December 3, 1931, the daughter of Edward and Mable (Wheeler) Mahler. She married Alvin G. Kruse in Genoa, Ohio on October 31, 1950 and he preceded her in death on August 26, 2015. Opal was a great cook who worked for several well known area restaurants. For many years she cooked for the former Star & Lils, in Genoa, and later for Dons in downtown Genoa where she was known as the hot dog lady. Prior to her retirement she had worked for the former Ray & Jetts restaurant in Genoa. Opal enjoyed collecting knick knacks and displaying them during her retirement years. She loved having her family around her, especially her grandchildren. She always looked forward to the summertime cookouts with them. Opal is survived by her children, Tom (Carol) Kruse, Roy Kruse, Barb (Denny) Geldin, 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, siblings, Denny, Mildred, Donna and Kathy. She was known around the neighborhood as grandma as well. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children, Alvin, Timmy, Kathy and Debbie, along with her siblings, Wilbur, Roland, Eddie, Russell and Ruth. There will be visitation for Opal from 2-4 PM, on Thursday, August 16, 2018 in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa, OH 43430. Services will be private.
