Opal M. Almendinger, 90, of Oak Harbor, passed away on Good Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Genoa Retirement Village, Genoa, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 23, 1926 in Oak Harbor to Theodore and Savilla (Draves) Rimelspach. Opal graduated from Salem Oak Harbor High School in 1944. On June 23, 1945 in Oak Harbor, she married Dale M. Almendinger, and he preceded her in death on January 11, 1994. Opal had worked for the Oak Harbor Hardware, Branums Inc., the Ottawa County Co-Op, and Luckey Farmers. She also worked for Weichman Agency doing taxes and insurance and then purchased the business and ran it from 1977-1988 as Almendinger Agency. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge. Opal is survived by her daughters, Marjorie (Roger) M. Gueldenzoph, Donna (John) M. Lockwood, and Anne M. Tesch, 6 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, half-brother, Harold Rimelspach, and sister, Erdine Almendinger. Visitation for Opal will be from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge, with interment to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions for Opal may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.
