Onnie V. Matthews

Onnie V. Matthews, 82, of Marblehead, Ohio and Monticello, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky. He was born on October 27, 1938 in Rogersville, Tennessee, the son of the late Grant and Lura (Thompson) Matthews. He married his first wife, Patricia Scott and she preceded him in death on July 31, 2008. He then married Wanda Jones on May 1, 2010 and she survives. Onnie was a mechanic at US Gypsum for over 37 years, retiring in 2003. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Wanda; daughters, Vicky (Steve) Fehrmann, Port Clinton, Ohio and Betty (William) Bomba, Marblehead; sons, Scott (Renee) Matthews, Sandusky, Ohio, Michael Matthews, Marblehead, and David (Sue) Matthews, Marblehead; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy Matthews; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Patricia; daughter, Carol Hayduk; brothers, Johnny, Lloyd, and Dewey Matthews; and sisters, Mary, Luna, Virgie, Della, Nella, Dencil, and Audrey. Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 11 am until Funeral Services at 1 pm with David Mowell officiating. Burial will follow at Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township.
