Omer F. Howell

Omer F. Howell, 89, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Thursday, October 02, 2014 at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, OH. Omer was born on December 06, 1924 in Dishman, WA, the son of Fred and Rosa I. (Huckins) Howell. On March 11, 1944 in Port Clinton, OH, he married Frieda Hansen and she survives. Omer was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WWII. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Erie Army Depot from 1946 to 1963. From there he worked at Port Clinton Lumber for many years. Omer was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH. He was very devoted to his family. Omer loved working in the yard, gardening, hunting, fishing and traveling. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Loving Wife: Frieda Howell of Port Clinton; Daughter: Rosan Allen of Micco, FL; Sons: Jack (Patricia) Howell and Kenneth (Viola) Howell, both of Port Clinton; 9 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren; Brother: Robert (Sylvia) Howell of Phoenix, AZ. Omer was preceded in death by his parents, step-father: Harold Lundblad, sister: Josie Lundblad, brothers: Alfred, Archie, Orn and Leonard Howell. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm, Sunday, October 05, 2014, in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, OH. Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. James Lehman at 11:00AM, Monday, October 06, 2014 in St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH. Interment will be in LaCarpe Cemetery, Lacarne, OH. Memorial donations in memory of Omer may be given to St. John Lutheran Church or Stein Hospice.
