Ollie V. Zajac, cherished husband, father, “Dzia Dzia”, and friend passed away peacefully on April 27, 2024. at UTMC at the age of 98. He was born April 1, 1926, to Anthony “Tony” and Amelia “Emily” (Kornasiewicz) Zajac in Rossford. Ohio.
Ollie proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and was delighted to participate in honor flight. After the war, he worked in various positions at LOF for nearly 40 years. He was married to his beloved wife, Esther “Dolly” (Ciski) Zajac from 1953 until her death in 2013. He was an active member of the American Legion, serving in several capacities, including Post Commander. He was also a devout member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) Catholic Church, where he especially enjoyed singing in the choir. In addition, Ollie was a great source of assistance and expertise to anyone who requested help with a home repair or remodeling job.
He will be deeply missed by his loving family, including his children, Lisa (Jim) Wurster, Frank Zajac, and Carol Kosmyna; 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolly; daughter, Anna; son, David; and siblings Harriet, Ray, Benny, and Eddie.
Visitation will be held at Sujkowski Walker Funeral Home, 830 Lime City Rd, Rossford, Ohio on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. A funeral mass celebrating Ollie's life will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at OLPH Catholic Church, 2255 Central Grove, Toledo, Ohio. Friends will be received the hour before mass to pay final respects. Donations in Ollie’s name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
