Oliver John Henry, 95, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died early Tuesday morning, July 2, 2013, at his home. He was born November 24, 1917, in Bay Township, Ohio, to John N. and Bertha Applegate Henry. On November 22, 1946, in Oak Harbor he married Marian Thorbahn who survives him. John was a lifetime farmer and had also worked at Standard Products for 30 years before retiring. He served during WWII in the Army, 324th Infantry in the European Theatre, and was a member of the Oak Harbor American Legion Post #114 and V.F.W. Post #8732. John enjoyed farming, fishing and making firewood with his wife. He was also an avid reader. In addition to his loving wife of over 66 years, Marian, John is survived by his sons, Robert Jayne Henry, Dan Phyllis Henry and Jim Linda Henry, his grandchildren, Austin, Oksana, Amy, Matthew Emily, Benjamin Kristi, Peter Sarah and David, and three great grandchildren. His parents, four brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Visitation for John will be 2-8 p.m., with family present from 2-5 & 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2013, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 122 W. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor, with burial to follow in Rusha Cemetery, Oak Harbor. The Oak Harbor American Legion Post #114 and V.F.W. Post #8732 will conduct military graveside services. The family suggests memorials for John to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 122 W. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor, OH 43449; or Hospice of Memorial Hospital, 430 S. Main St., Clyde, OH 43410.
