Olga Jomantas, daughter of Luisa and Eduardas Gruzas, was lifted up into the loving arms of her heavenly father on December 10, 2008. Olga is survived by her two children, Paulius Nancy Jomantas and Renata Jankauskas and her brother, Walter Gruzas. Olga was born in Marijampole, Lithuania on August 13, 1923. She was educated as a nursery school manager and teacher and later worked in Posnan, Poland and Vilnius, Lithuania during World War II. After the war, she fled Communism and lived in Seligenstadt, Germany in a displaced persons camp where she met her future husband, Vincas Jomantas. They immigrated to the United States in 1949 and settled in Toledo, Ohio. Her beloved Vincas passed away in 1965. She raised her treasured son, Paulius and remained a widow living with her singing birds, precious dogs, and enjoyed gardening until her death. Olga was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church until her health began to fail. She appreciated everyone in her circle of friends and anyone she met. She loved to share her life experiences with others her way of teaching life lessons and bringing a smile to others. Her strong spirit and positive outlook will be greatly missed. Friends may visit with the family at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. on Friday from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 10 am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3934 W. Laskey Rd. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
