O.D. Dr. John P. Morrison

Dr. John P. Morrison, O.D., age 84, passed away April 1, 2009 at Kingston Care Center surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Findlay, OH to Tad and Chloia Morrison on July 20, 1924. He was a graduate of Scott High School in Toledo and of the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL where he was a member of the Phi Theta Upsilon fraternity. John served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during WWII. He was part of the European Theatre earning two Bronze Stars, an American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and Eame Theater Ribbon. He retired from optometry after 58 years of employment with Buckeye Optical in Columbus, D.O.C., JCPenney and Walmart in Toledo. John loved crossword puzzles, morning coffee, napping in a chair, or just resting his eyes. He especially enjoyed being surrounded by loving friends and family. John held several positions within the Optimist Club. John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hugh and Rex; sister, Joann Miligan and wife, Phyllis Montgomery Morrison. He is survived by their children, JoAnn Kinsel Bill of Atlanta, GA, Jane Morrison of Reynoldsburg, OH, Anita Morrison of Chicago, IL, Neil Morrison of Columbus, OH, Tina Miller Steve of Columbus, OH, Reda Riley Jeff of Medford, NJ, Robert Morrison of Hillsdale, MI, and Heather Elliott Allen of Toledo, OH; and nine grandchildren. John was also preceded in death by wife, Sharon Fullenlove Morrison. He is survived by her children, Candace Garza Mike of Oregon, OH, John Fullenlove Rachelle of Northwood, OH; and Kenneth Fullenlove of Northwood, OH; and her seven grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and special friends also survive, who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-3:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. with a memorial service following at 3:00pm.
