Norman J. Hartman, 92, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 6, 1920 to Mary Matilda (Getz) and Theodore Albert Hartman. Norman graduated from Haskins High School in 1938. He then worked on the family farm until he enlisted in the United States Air Force at Patterson Air Force Base in 1942. He proudly served his country for four years. He then went to work at L.O.F. in the maintenance department where he retired from after 36 years. On April 22, 1950 Norman married his sweetheart, Loretta Eckel. Together they raised four children, Cheryl, Richard, Randy and Sheila. Loretta and Norman spent 62 happy years together. They traveled to Las Vegas over 25 times. They also traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, the Canadian Rockies and a few cruises. When Norman was not traveling he could be found in his workshop, in his garden or relaxing by his pond. Norman leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Loretta Hartman; children, Cheryl Peters, Richard (Bonnie) Hartman and Sheila (Jeffrey) Carstensen; grandchildren, Jamie Smeltzer, Bill Peters, Travis Hartman, Terrel Bolyard and Andrew Hartman; 8 great grandchildren and sister, Nelda Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy Hartman; brothers, Dale, Vernon and Harold Hartman; and beloved four-legged friends, Heinie and Cody. Family and friends may be received at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) on Friday, January 25 from 3:00 PM-7:00 PM. Funeral services will begin Saturday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home followed by internment at New Belleville Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to St. Rose’s Building Fund.
