Gorr Norman Norman Gorr, age 83, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Harborside Healthcare in Swanton, OH. He was born on February 8, 1925 in Toledo, OH to Fred W. and Bertha Jaeck Gorr. He was a graduate of Macomber High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served as a Torpedoman during WWII. Norman was a self-employed master carpenter and builder for 51 years retiring in 1997. His motto as a carpenter was If it is Gorr-built, its Gorr-geous. Norman always had a great sense of humor, a great smile and a zest for life. He was a member of the Start High School Boosters Club and the Eagles Lodge #197 for many years. He was also an avid golfer. Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Pohlman Gorr in February of 2004; and brothers, Raymond and Arthur Gorr. Norman is survived by his children, Sue Mike Mack, Jeanne Barry Murphy, Carol Tim Starner, Nancy Szegedi, Jim Cheryl Gorr, and John Brenda Gorr, their mother, Rose Marie Gorr; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Gorr; step-children, Jim Sue Pohlman, David Pohlman, and Mary Jo Pohlman; two step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the Lighthouse Unit at Harborside Healthcare in Swanton for the wonderful care Norman received while he was a resident over the past several months. Friends may call at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. after 2:00pm on Saturday where memorial services will follow at 4:00pm.
