Norman Edwards passed away Friday, November 1, 2019 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Norman was born November 11, 1952 in St. Catherine Parish, Jamaica. He was confirmed at the Cathedral of Saint Jago De La Vega in Spanish Town, Jamaica. He attended Cresent All Age School and Grantham College in Jamaica. He immigrated to the United States on May 6, 1973, and he became a United States citizen on September 27, 1996. He attended Prairie View A & M, and the University of Toledo studying business administration. From an early age, he could be found building his own musical sound systems and was a DJ throughout the island. After college, Norman became a journeyman electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 8 electricians’ union. He was also an electrical contractor owning his own company, Edwards Electric. With his love of music and his passion for his craft, he combined his knowledge of music with electronics, and he owned and operated Club Irie in Toledo. Norman is survived by his two sons, Dwayne Amos and Brandon Banton. He is also survived by his mother Winifred Edwards-Stewart (Winston) and siblings Barrington (Marjorie), Delroy (Denise), Dorian (Maria), Castella (Jennifer), Jennifer Darby (William), Karen Berman (Keith), and Howard. He leaves five grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and love ones. Preceding in death are his father Joslyn Edwards and his granddaughter Loveya Ballez. Visitation will be Friday, November 8, 2019 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) and on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:15 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
