Norma A Smith

Norma A. Smith age 92 of Maumee, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. Norma was born near Lima City, OH on June 7, 1922 to Harley and Nellie (Griner) Eckel. She married Marion D. Smith on July 17, 1940 and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1966. Norma and her husband built and operated Sunset RV Court and eventually became a Mobile Home Court in 1953. She continued as co-owner until the year 2000. Norma enjoyed bowling, reading, cards and puzzles. She was a past member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, OH and Ohio Mobile Home Association. Surviving is her son, Gene M. (Jennifer) Smith of Maumee; daughter, Jan (Ron) Dohr of Perrysburg; granddaughters, Tanya and Tisha; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Glen Eckel of Perrysburg and sister, Iona E. Snyder of Swanton, OH. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lyle and Paul Eckel and sister, Beulah A. Jones. A special thank you to her longtime friend, Sharon Aller. Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St., Maumee, OH on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 2-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ft. Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg.
