Norma Branum

Norma Lee Branum, 88, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in the Stein Hospice Inpatient Unit, Sandusky, OH. She was born on September 10, 1934 in Port Clinton, OH to Robert and Bessie (Mackey) Suhrbier. Norma graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1952, where she was the Salutatorian in her class. On July 19, 1952 in Oak Harbor, she married Richard “Curly” P. Branum, and he preceded her in death on October 28, 2014. Norma worked as a teller for the National Bank of Oak Harbor for over 40 years, before retiring. She was a longtime, active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. Norma enjoyed playing cards, traveling, gardening, canning, and baking cookies. She really liked her sweets, liked to serve people, and especially enjoyed all her grandkids. Norma was known to be feisty at times, but always fun loving, and definitely stronger than she looked.

Norma is survived by her sons, Glenn (Barbara) Branum and Rex (Sylvia) Branum; daughters, Kay Hazlett and Lisa (Chuck) Adams; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; brother-in-law, Allen (Martha) Branum; sister-in-law, Jan Branum; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Mike Hazlett; great- granddaughter, Adrianna Tingler; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Cheryl Wessel 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, with visitation prior from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow the services in Roose Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials for Norma to be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9789 W. Oak Harbor SE Rd., Oak Harbor, OH 43449, Promedica Hospice, 430 S. Main St., Clyde, OH 43410, or the donor’s choice.
