Norma Jean Anderson, 87, of Port Clinton, OH passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at her home. She was born on April 10, 1935 in Port Clinton, OH to Milton and Mary Elizabeth (Humphrey) Apling. Norma eloped with her sweetheart, Mitchell Anderson, to Angola, IN and as a result on August 18 th of this year they would have been married 69 years. She worked as a business secretary for 30 years and was a part owner of Transmissions Unlimited in Port Clinton. Norma enjoyed feeding birds and squirrels in the back yard. She loved history and anything about the Civil War. She also enjoyed traveling, day trips to the Amish Country, and collecting carnival and Depression glass, and carved ducks. With her “good ear” everyone came to her for someone to confide in. Norma was also known to like Werther’s Original candies, Bassett’s chocolate and white on white birthday cakes. Her companionship and her cooking will be greatly missed. Norma is the last of “the original Apling’s” in Carroll Township, OH.
In addition to her loving husband, Mitchell, she is survived by her daughter, Mary Anderson, son, Eric (Kassie Jennings-Anderson) Anderson, grandchildren, Heather (Bobby Gray) Dornbusch-Moss, Shelby (Jeremy) Newton, and Jennifer (Greg) Staib, 10 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 siblings, and nieces & nephews.
Funeral services for Norma will be private with burial in Rusha Cemetery, Carroll Township, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Norma may be given to ProMedica Hospice or the Ottawa County Humane Society. Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E.
