Norbert Francis Wyland

Norbert Francis Wyland, age 96, of Toledo, OH, passed away on April 5, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on July 1, 1913, in Spangler, PA, to William and Myrtle Eckenrode Wyland. He married the love of his life, Elda Springer on October 13, 1937. She sadly passed away on December 26, 1995, in Chattanooga, TN. Norbert was a hard worker who served in the Merchant Marines during WWII, managed a bar and grill, owned and operated two grocery stores, worked for Euclid, Inc. and retired from a personnel position in 1978. He and Elda retired to Florida and for many years enjoyed the sun, beaches and taking many cruises. Norbert loved to golf and was proud of his hole-in-one. They moved to Chattanooga, TN in 1993 and lived with their son, Robert and wife, Wanda. In 1998, Norbert moved to Toledo, OH, to live with his daughter, Kathy, who was blessed to spend the last 12 years of his life with him. Norbert is survived by his three children, Robert Wanda, Gary Rochelle and Kathleen Schroll; 12 grandchildren, Eric Michelle Wyland, Joanne Paul Welich, Karen Jeff Migchelbrink, Carrie Wyland, Matthew Shandi Wyland, Christopher Shauna Wyland, Rebecca Stephen Loehr, Melissa Christopher Marchlewski, Kristen Brett Sherwood, Robert Sprague, Teasha Sprague and Caleb Sprague; numerous great-grand-children; his brother, William Agnes Wyland, and sister-in-law, Louise Wyland. His brother, Harold precedes him in death. Norbert was a kind and giving man who brought much love and joy to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. A special thank you to Dave Laub and Bill Perry for their love and friendship over the years. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Josephs Church, 5373 S. Main St., Sylvania, on Friday at 10 a.m. Ashes will be lovingly carried to Chattanooga, Tennessee to be interned with his wife, Elda, in the Garden of the Good Shepherd at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
