Heaven just got a little rowdier. Ninfa G. Torres, of Perrysburg, Ohio, and longtime resident of Genoa, Ohio, began her new journey, Monday, August 10, 2026, living 33,053 days. Ninfa was born in Gonzales, Texas to Jesus and Rita (Rodriguez) Garcia.
Over the years, Ninfa worked at Prima Baking Company, Genoa, Ohio, Stony Ridge Inn, Millbury, Ohio, Isaly's Nostalgic Chocolate Candy Store in Toledo, Ohio, and retired after 23 years from Luther Home of Mercy, Williston, Ohio. She founded Torres Bakery in Rossford, Ohio, and loved meeting people while working at Tila's Taco Food Truck at local festivals. Ninfa had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States, Mexico, and abroad. Her most memorable journey was to Holy Land, where she rode a camel!
Another source of great joy was attending DAP Ministries of Great Faith Church in Fairfield, Ohio, with Bishop Darrin Phelps, Pastor Annette Phelps, and Minister Kimberly Atkins. She also attended Apostolic Restoration Center, led by Pastor Jeanne Davis in Genoa, Ohio. Love, protection, guidance, and generosity defined Ninfa's well-lived life.
She cherished her marriage, remained deeply devoted to her family and friends, and celebrated her faith in Jesus Christ. Ninfa would often stop spontaneously to help someone experiencing homelessness, offering prayer, financial support, and sometimes a meal. She chose to give generously rather than keep for herself. Ninfa had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to laugh out loud, and refused to give up when faced with a challenge. In her final years, whenever she had enough conversation with her children, she would end it with her famous phrase: "Yep, yep."
Ninfa is survived by her loving daughters, Florinda "Flo" (Merle) Norwalk, Elizabeth "Lisa" Torres and Coltilde "Tila" Torres; siblings, Bertha Trejo, Ruth Garcia, Dora Navarro and Antonio Garcia; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. Ninfa was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Raul Torres of 22 years and her cherished daughter Rita Torres.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Walker Funeral Home, 501 West Street, Genoa Friday, August 21, 2026, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral services Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Following the service Ninfa will be laid to rest at Clay Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to DAP Ministries, Ohioans' Home Health & Hospice, Cherry Street Mission Ministries or Ottawa County Veterans Services. Ninfa's family would like to thank her care team at Ohioans Home Health & Hospice, Kudos to PT, Kim Etchie. Special thanks to Carole & Tim Abbeglen and Neighbors Penny and Brad.
