Nicole L. Schmidt passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 27, 2022. She was born on December 27, 1980, in Toledo, OH where she was raised by her parents, Frederick and Evelyn (Francis) Schmidt. In her short 41 years, Nicole lived with passion and sass and touched so many lives.
After meeting in 2001, Nicole married the love of her life, Dean Christian in 2005. To her friends she went by “Cole” or “Nik” and was always firm in standing by those she loved through tough times and great times. Loving her family and friends above all else, she was loyal and a source of strength to those who knew her. While she was a rock for her family of all boys, she certainly didn’t let that interfere with her feminine side. Nicole loved pampering herself by doing her nails, hair, and makeup, loved all things purple and was always looking her best when she went out. She was notorious for her collection of curling irons and certainly dressed to impress. In their household she was known as the “Princess” and was treated like one.
Among Nicole’s other quirks, she was also a picky eater who could not have her food touching (even if it meant she had to go out of her way to get special Tupperware with dividers). She had a running list of favorite foods including Inky’s Pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms, garlic parm wings from Buffalo Wild Wing’s, cheesy bread, popcorn, cotton candy, gummies, ranch Corn Nuts, cookie dough, KFC biscuits and gravy, and finally, Texas Roadhouse. Some may say she was a bit of a ‘foodie’, however her number one necessity above all was her Dr. Pepper—there was simply no starting her day without it! She was also a very cleanly woman who put this talent of hers to use in her career as a dental hygienist. She really loved watching the Twilight series as well as The Vampire Diaries and never turned down a game of Bunko or bingo. However, it goes without saying that spending time with her Husband, four sons, and grandchildren brought her the most joy out of anything. Her motherly love, smile, and laughter will forever be missed by her family and friends, however her bright light will always shine on in their memories, never to be forgotten. She will be missed dearly.
Nicole is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Dean Christian; sons, Marcus (Felicia) Christian, Dean Christian, Jr., Tyson Christian, Randall Christian, Austin, Charity, AJ; daughters, Heather Ashbaucher, Brooklyn; grandchildren, Meila, Marcus Jr., Makenna; brother, Jason Schmidt; mother-in-law, Missy; niece, Mariah Schmidt; nephews, Jason II., Trey Schmidt; goddaughters, Amaya Faust, Yasmine Brown; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Schmidt, Evelyn Francis-Schmidt.
All are welcome to gather for visitation on Friday, September 2, 2022, from 3-9 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH. A Funeral ceremony will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 11 a.m. A funeral procession to Toledo Memorial Park will follow. Condolences can be shared with the family via the tribute wall, or a memorial donation may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses in Nicole’s honor.
