Nicholas Rutkowski

Nicholas M. Rutkowski, 34, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio after a lingering illness. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 29, 1988, the son of Duane A. and Carolyn (Mills) Rutkowski, whom have both preceded him in death.

Nick was a 2006 graduate of Port Clinton High School and due to his disability, he was unable to start a career. That in no way diminished his zeal for life, as he enjoyed every day with whatever life had in store. He possessed a kind and gentle soul that allowed people to quickly connect with him. He loved food, especially Little Debbie’s and Goldfish Crackers. He loved having his head rubbed, bobbing his head in time with a good song, taking naps and holding hands when he was in the mood. Everyone always asked him why he was so grumpy when he got to Dayhab, and it was because he hated wearing his helmet and getting up early!

Nicholas is survived by his stepmother, Susan Rutkowski, siblings, Kristin (Seth) Rutkowski, Bryan Rutkowski, Mary (Chase) Rutkowski, DJ (Lexi) Rutkowski, Chris (Tonya) Robedeau, Patience (Jeff) Bauer, Sarah Strayer, Allen Rutkowski, aunt, Judy Schneider, and cousin, Leah Schneider, along with additional aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Nicholas also had some very special caregivers that were considered family as well, Rose, Patsy, Tricia, Renee, and Casey. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Sean Rutkowski.

Visitation for Nicholas will be from 10:00-11:00 AM, Thursday, December 8, 2022, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
