Nicholas Samuel Marino

January 29, 1983 — July 9, 2018

Nicholas Samuel Marino was born on January 29th, 1983 and passed away recently due to complications related to cardiac disease. Nick was a resident of North Carolina but a native of Toledo, Ohio. He attended St. John’s Jesuit High School where he played on the golf and bowling teams and met many of his lifelong friends. Following high school he attended Eastern Michigan University and the Ohio State University. He was a dedicated OSU and Detroit Lions fan. Several years ago Nick resided in California where he owned a cigar shop in the Los Angeles area. He had extensive knowledge of the cigar industry and was considered a “cigar aficionado”. Nick was known for his remarkable athleticism which included expert level snow skiing, snowboarding, as well as golf and hockey. These talents have been inherited by his beloved son, Brody Hubbard, who was the bright shining star of his life. Nicholas was also very close to and proud of his surviving sisters, Natalie Fadel (Chris) and Alexis Stoner (Brett). He had three nephews and one niece that he enjoyed spending time with and was so proud to be the godfather of his youngest nephew Noah Marino Fadel. Nick’s close family and friends will remember him for being warm hearted and always making those around him laugh. Nick was also known for his loyalty and generosity. He was a devoted Catholic and had a passion for service and volunteerism and gave frequently of his time and energy to a number of charitable organizations. He was most passionate about his work with Alcoholics Anonymous Central Call Stations where he took calls from those in need of assistance with substance abuse and addiction issues. Nick is survived by his mother, Lesia Marino-Brolinson. He also had two step-sisters, Marja and Becka Brolinson along with his step-father, Dr. Gunnar Brolinson that he loved dearly. He is also survived by his beloved cat “Rocco” who he affectionately referred to as “his boy”. Preceding him in death was his father, Samuel Vincent Marino who also passed away due to cardiac disease. Visitation will take place at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. in Toledo on Friday July 27th from 3 to 6 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main St, Sylvania, OH on Saturday July 28th at 10 am. The burial will be at the Toledo Memorial Park. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Nick’s name to any of the following charities: The American Heart Association, St. John’s Jesuit High School scholarship fund memory of Nicholas Marino,5901 Airport Highway, Toledo, Ohio43615-7399 or Dawn Farm Scholarship fund for those in need of treatment c/o Nicholas Marino Memorial, 6633 Stoney Creek Road, Ypsilanti, MI 48197
