Nelson F. Rohloff, 88, of Curtice, died in his home Tuesday afternoon, December 13, 2011. Nelson was born March 31, 1923, in Trowbridge, Ohio, to Fred and Ida Frederick Rohloff. On April 2, 1945, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Fremont, Ohio, he married Bertha Dickman, who survives. Nelson retired in 1982 after working over 40 years at Sun Oil Refinery. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 801st Aviation, Engineering Battalion. Nelson was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa. He was a past president of the PTA at Allen Central School and a former member of the Allen Township Fire Dept. Many of Nelsons interests included woodworking, specifically furniture, clocks and Christmas decorations. He enjoyed working in the yard and was a real handyman, who taught his family how to do many things. In addition to his wife, Bertha, Nelson is survived by his children, Mary Lynn Michael Latour of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Susan Bill Lewis of Ann Arbor, MI, Bradley Deann Rohloff of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Jonathan Jennifer Rohloff of Curtice and Elizabeth Rohloff of Portland, OR, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold and Marvin, and sisters, Viola, Esther, Alice and Dorothy. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2011, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa; the scripture service will be led at 7:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, 17, 2011, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Genoa, with interment to follow in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. The family suggests memorials for Nelson to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 204 Main St., Genoa, OH 43430; or Odyssey Hospice, 1745 Indianwood Circle Suite 200, Maumee, OH 43537. The family extends a thank-you to Odyssey Hospice and a special thank-you to Jennifer, Christine and Jim.
