Nelda Conley Earls

June 2, 1944 — March 5, 2026

Nelda Earls, age 81, passed away on March 5, 2026. She was born June 2, 1944, in Crossville, Tennessee, to Eddie Wayman Dallas and Annie (Sparks) Conley.

Nelda was a woman who truly enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved going to the casino, especially playing the slot machines, and rarely passed up the chance for a trip. She also enjoyed bowling and was active in several bowling leagues over the years. Fishing was another passion of hers, and she even competed in tournaments, once placing 1st in the women's division and 3rd in the men's division at the same event.

One of Nelda's favorite places in the world was Sunny's Campground in Wauseon, Ohio, which she considered her happy place. There she loved sitting on the porch soaking up the sun, listening to music, fishing, playing bingo, and most importantly spending time with family. Her granddaughter Tabatha and her family often visited her there, and her grandson David always found a way to take her to the casino so she could enjoy her beloved slot machines.

Nelda was also a devoted sports fan who cheered faithfully for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team and admired Indiana Hoosiers basketball coach Bobby Knight. She had a taste for good food as well, especially crab legs and a good steak.

Above all, Nelda loved her family. She shared 64 years of marriage with her husband, Billy E. Earls, and the life they built together was something she treasured deeply.

She is survived by her loving husband, Billy E. Earls; daughter Tina (Vern) Thompson; grandchildren Tabatha (Junior) Lauffer and David (Amanda) Burden; great-grandchildren Jessica (Josh) Lauffer, Alex Lauffer, Ryan (Haylee) Burden, and Bianca (Matthew) Burden; great-great-grandchildren Maverick and Lorraine; brothers James and Gene Conley; and several nieces and nephews including Kevin and Lisa, whom she enjoyed conversing with on the phone.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Dorothy, Mae, Lester, Charles, and Billie Ray Conley.

Nelda will be cremated, and her family will honor and celebrate her life privately.
