Neil G Armbruster

Neil G. Armbruster, age 89, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Otterbein nursing facility in Monclova, Ohio. Neil was born on May 31, 1926, to Earl and Edna Schaeffer Armbruster. He was a lifelong resident of Monclova Township and graduated from Monclova High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II as a radio operator. He married Marcia Van Dorp on August 21, 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee. He was an estimator for 43 years at the Blade Printing Company, retiring in 1990. He was also elected Clerk of Monclova Township in 1971, and conscientiously served the residents of Monclova in that position for twenty four years. He was an avid reader, was active in local politics, enjoyed gardening and was a long-time volunteer at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Neil was preceded in death by his parents; brother Leo and sister Ruby. Surviving are his loving wife of sixty six years Marcia (Van Dorp) ; sons Dr. Tod Armbruster (Clare) and Donald Armbruster (Deborah); grandchildren Sean, Luke, Mary, Tiffany, Trinity and Kirston; and 10 great grandchildren. The family of Mr. Armbruster would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and family friend, Therese Freiburger for providing comfort and support to Neil in his final days. Visitation will be held at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, from 3-8 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
