Nancy Speakman (nee’ Henricks), 74, was born to Samuel and Edna Henricks (nee’Foster) on January 27, 1948, at “The Old Flower Hospital” in Toledo, Ohio. She gained her wings on November 30, 2022 at St Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood, Kentucky, with her family by her side.
Nancy loved animals, especially her dogs. Nancy attended Wernert Elementary, Jefferson Jr High and Whitmer High School. She was a proud member of the Whitmer Class of 1966. She then went to Stautzenberger Business School. Nancy was previously married to Dean Speakman, but they remained friends until Dean passed away with Nancy at his side in 2016.
Nancy enjoyed office work and helping people. She worked for the Toledo Area Boy Scout Council, Hickory Farms, Dana Corporation, and Buckeye Cablesystem.
Nancy spent most of her life in Toledo, but in 2014 she moved down to Kentucky. Her friends are numerous and Nancy was well loved by all.
In the past few years, Nancy enjoyed small trips with Sherri to Gatlinburg and most enjoyed their several trips to Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville NY. She got to meet “April the Giraffe.” Even through the dementia, she remembered April and Park Owner Jordan Patch
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Sam & Edna Henricks, and her former spouse, Dean Speakman.
Nancy is survived by her children, Sherrianne Walker (Brad) and Susan Johnson (Jerome Sr.); grandchildren; Joshua Swartz (Savana), Jacob Swartz, Samantha Knowles (Andre’), Shelby Coleman (Wynston), Jerome Johnson, Jr, Jasmine Johnson, and Josiah Johnson; step grandchildren; Bradley Walker, Sandra Walker, Nicholas Walker, and Allyson Walker; step great grandson, Joseph; her favorite doggie pals, MooMoo and Chewbacca; and former son in law, David Swartz.
She is also survived by 1st cousins Jim Henricks (Maryanne), Sarajane Hendricks and their families. There are also a host of other cousins that will greatly miss her.
The family wishes to thank Villaspring in Erlanger, Kentucky for loving Nancy and caring for her as if she were their own and St. Elizabeth Hospice for making her final hours peaceful and comfortable.
The family will welcome visitors in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 4-8 p.m. and again on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private at Toledo Memorial Park
Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the family. Per Nancy’s wishes, this will go toward her Memorial Nameplate at Animal Adventure Park and a family trip to the park. She wanted to take Sherri and Susan and their families on a family vacation there, but she had to go into the Nursing Home before that happened. Donations can also be made in her name to St. Elizabeth Hospice.
