Nancy E. Roach

Nancy E. Roach, 89, of Lindsey, OH passed away, Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, OH. She was born on March 4, 1935 in Kingsway/Fremont, OH to Herman A. and Catherine (Grundy) Smith. On October 10, 1953 in Fremont, OH she married the love of her life, Paul M. Roach, who preceded her in death on May 5, 2023. Nancy and Paul met in the 2nd grade at Lindsey Schools and eventually dated in high school, going on to be proudly married for almost 70 years. Nancy worked as a homemaker, raising her six children, which was her proudest accomplishment in life. Outside of this, she also worked at various jobs including as a nurse’s aide at Riverview Nursing Home in Oak Harbor, different factory jobs in Fremont, OH, and retired from JoAnn Fabrics in Fremont after 18 years.

Nancy enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles, sewing and crocheting, making her children’s clothing, including suits, costumes, and even her daughter’s wedding dress. She had a fun, quirky sense of humor and was also strong even in the most difficult times. She was known to be a great cook and baker and for her amazing spaghetti / lasagna and pumpkin pie. Nancy enjoyed going out to eat with her family and especially enjoyed going to Ole Zim’s Wagon Shed for a Wendell’s special and in the summertime she liked going to Woody’s drive in. Nancy loved sweets of any kind, especially a Wendy’s Frosty and any flavor of ice cream, she could make a meal out of a Hostess coffee cake and a bowl of mandarin orange Jello. Nancy spent many hours playing cards and games with her family, especially UNO on Friday nights with her grandchildren. She would always grant her listening ear to anyone needing to chat, and will be so greatly missed by her family and friends.

Nancy is survived by her children, Mike (Margie) Roach, Sr., Tony (Kelli) Roach, Paula Zimmerman, Lori (Gerry) Kaselak, and Wendy (Jeff) Null, daughter-in-law, Sherry Roach, grandchildren, Marie Reiselt, Mike (Kelly) Roach, Jr., Brandon (Angie) Roach, Jillian Roach, Seth Roach, Tabitha (T.J.) Shilling, Zach Zimmerman, Katherine (Tyler) Smith, and Thomas Null, and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Rick Roach, sisters, Mae Hepner and Lois Nycum, and brothers, Leroy, Jack, Glenn, and Ward Smith.

Memorial services for Nancy will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1187 CR 128, Fremont, OH, with a luncheon to follow directly afterward at the church. There will be visitation an hour prior to the services at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. A private family burial will be in Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Lindsey, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Nancy may be given to Faith Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.
