Nancy Phillips

January 28, 1933 — June 3, 2024

Nancy Phillips, age 91, of Monroe, MI passed away Monday, June 3, 2024 at The Northwest Ohio Hospice Center.

Nancy was born January 28, 1933 in Toledo, OH. She was the daughter of Leo and Elmira Krupp. She attended and graduated from Devilbiss High School in June 1951, where she met her future husband, Edgar Phillips. They were married December 8, 1951 and were happily married for 72 years. They moved and established their roots to Bolles Harbor, Monroe, MI in 1955 where she would live until her death.

Nancy’s first job was working at Monroe Bank & Trust. She left Monroe Bank and Trust to work at Canteen Vending alongside her husband, Ed. Nancy worked there for 25 years until her retirement. During their retirement years, Nancy and Ed enjoyed volunteering at the Valentine Theater in Toledo, OH for over 20 years. Volunteering was very important to Nancy and so was her community. During her life she dedicated over 25 years of service to the Bolles Harbor Improvement Association Board as their secretary. On any given day, if you drove through the Harbor, you might either see Nancy riding her bike, or walking her beloved dog, Chloe. Living near the lake, they could be seen cruising in their Lyman Cruisette, Poor Us. Nancy and Ed were lifetime Monroe Boat Club members, where she was a past Ladies Auxiliary President.

Above all, Nancy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband Edgar Phillips, three sons, Douglas (Debra) Phillips, Dale (Ann) Phillips, Don (Colleen) Phillips, one daughter, Janice Fletcher, and one brother Richard (Jackie) Krupp. Seven grandchildren, Kelly (Jay) Lake, Holly (Judd) Strohmeyer, Nicholas (Cristina) Phillips, Zachary (Julia) Fletcher, Erin Fletcher, Kristin (Emil) Bunek, and Jacob Szypka. Ten great-grandchildren, Austin (Maddy) Lake, Kelsey Mullen, Alexis Lake, Ada Strohmeyer, Luke Strohmeyer, Palmer Phillips, Maggie Bunek, Zeta Bunek, Emil Bunek, and Mack Bunek with number 11 on the way.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Elmira Krupp, two brothers, Leo and James Krupp, a sister, Dolores Rausch, and her two beloved great grandsons, Aidan Lake and Hogan Phillips.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Northwest Ohio Hospice Center for the special care and attention they gave to Nancy.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were handled by Walker Funeral Home, Toledo.
