Nancy Elaine Marik, 72, of Holland, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Mary Martha Assisted Living, Toledo, Ohio. She had many visitors her last days on earth. Never wanting to be a burden, she waited until her sister was asleep to complete her journey to heaven. She was born June 6, 1953, in Port Clinton, Ohio, to Daniel and Mildred Marik.
Nancy earned an associate degree from Terra Community College and later received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Toledo. In her early years, she had worked as a secretary/ bookkeeper at Davis Beese power plant. Later, she used her earnings to put herself through college. She dedicated over 30 years of service as a polysomnographic technologist with the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, retiring in December 2019.
A two-time cancer survivor, Nancy deeply appreciated the care and support she received from The Victory Center of Toledo. She found great joy in visiting libraries-not only as an avid reader, but also as an active participant in their programs and activities. She enjoyed attending the Crosby Gardens Art Show and had a deep love for flowers, plants, butterflies, and all things that God created. She was a lifelong scholar and was always happy to share something new she had learned.
Nancy also had a lifelong appreciation for music and enjoyed playing the piano, a skill she began developing in childhood. She will be fondly remembered as the family's photographer and historian, always eager to share stories, preserve memories, and keep family connections alive. She was a kind, giving, and compassionate person who always put others before herself. She will be greatly missed by her family, especially Marian. The two sisters shared a close bond, as more than just sisters, but best friends.
She is survived by her siblings: Carolyn Watson, David Marik, Marian (Ronald) Clark, and John (Karen) Marik; nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Richard) Malia, Stephanie (Fred) Deneau, Tom Watson, Andrew (Lydia) Marik, Megan (Keegan) Steele, Joshua Clark, and Amanda Clark; great-nephews: Alex Malia, Ricky Malia, and Michael Deneau; special cousins: Becky (Mike) Sterling; and her beloved feline companion, Henry. She was preceded in death by her parents and special bonus parents, Paul and Audrey Loertscher, and childhood friend Linda Loertscher.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 122 W. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor, with Pastor Becky Bolander officiating.
