Nancy L. Howard

April 23, 1940 — February 4, 2022

It is with bittersweet sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mother, “Aunie”, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and friend Nancy Louise (Patton) Howard. Nancy was welcomed into the arms of our Lord Jesus at the age of 81, surrounded by loved ones on February 4, 2022, in Bradenton, Florida.

She was born April 23, 1940, in Toledo to the late Rolland and Louise (Van Hall) Patton. A graduate of Devilbiss High School, she married the late Marsh Robert “Bob” Howard Jr. on November 5, 1960. They went on to raise 6 children, and welcome 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Bob’s career led them to relocate several times over the years, taking them to St. Louis, Missouri, back to Toledo, North Carolina, and ultimately Bradenton, Florida. It was in these places where they met many cherished people, resulting in family and friend ties all over the country. Bob’s career also included trips overseas, most notably to Paris and Asia to which Nancy was more than happy to accompany him. Although Nancy would say her greatest accomplishment was being a mother, she also loved to reminisce about her years spent as a real estate agent with DiSalle Realty in Ohio as well as her time as an associate for Winn Dixie grocery stores of Florida.

In her free time Nancy enjoyed cooking, dining out, traveling, card games, and most of all socializing with friends and family. She was a parishioner of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Bradenton Fla and a woman of great faith. As the matriarch of the large and boisterous Howard clan, Nancy loved to be in the middle of it all. She was the life of the party and never wanted to miss a thing and rarely did she! To know Nancy or “Aunie” as her grandchildren call her was to love her. She truly never knew a stranger and was an exceptionally loving, kind, and loyal woman. She could almost always be found with a smile on her face, a lending ear and encouraging word to give. She valued her family so passionately and never missed an opportunity to tell stories of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments and share pictures of “her gorgeous babies”. Nancy’s life was full of fun, laughter, and colorful experiences that she would gladly tell of to anyone who cared to listen! She was one of a kind, will be sorely missed and never forgotten.

Left to carry on her legacy are her children, Laura (Joe) Shucart, Gregory (Tricia) Howard, Thomas Howard, Scott Howard, Douglas (Stephanie) Howard, Christopher (Kelly) Howard; grandchildren, Megan (Chris), Stephen (Kayla), Blake, Eric, Ali (Jose), Lauren, Peyton, Christian, Sydney and Kathryn; great grandchildren, Camden, Kennedy, Cohen, Lincoln, Elsie, Allison, Cole and Lily; sisters in law, Donna Patton and Elizabeth (Howard) Demoran; nieces, nephews and countless family friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her in laws Mears and Marsh Howard of Toledo, and two brothers, James “Jimmy” Patton and Gene Patton both of Toledo.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 3-7 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2022, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) concluded with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Nancy’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane Toledo, OH 43623.
