Nancy Jean (Beavers) Cooper

Nancy Jean (Beavers) Cooper passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on July 8, 2026. While our hearts are broken, we are incredibly grateful for the countless memories, unconditional love, and unwavering strength she shared throughout her life.

Born in Streator, Illinois, Nancy devoted her life to the people she loved most. Although she never held the title of a career outside the home, she dedicated herself to being the very best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend anyone could ask for. She spent her life caring for others, raising not only her own children but helping raise her grandchildren as well. Her greatest joy was simply being with her family.

Nancy was the kind of person everyone gravitated toward. She had a remarkable gift for listening without judgment, offering wise advice, and making every person she met feel seen, heard, and loved. She was the strongest person we have ever known, the one everyone called when they needed comfort, encouragement, or simply someone to talk to. To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as "Grammy with the Wammy," a nickname that perfectly reflected the joy and laughter she brought into our lives.

She found happiness in life's simple pleasures: traveling the country with her family in their RV, sewing and crafting, hunting for the perfect Buc-ee's T-shirt, and proudly claiming the title of Luke Bryan's biggest fan. She expressed her love through her cooking, and no holiday was complete without the incredible meals and Christmas desserts she lovingly prepared for her family. Her quick wit, playful sense of humor, and contagious laugh could brighten any room.

Nancy shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, William Cooper. Together they built a family rooted in love, kindness, and unwavering support for one another.

She is survived by her devoted husband, William Cooper; her daughter, Amy Hymore (Josh); her son, John Cooper (Sara); her sister, Janice Maddux; and her cherished grandchildren, Morgan Pate, Madison Pate, William Pate, Liam Cooper, Luke Cooper, Bella Hymore, and Lila Cooper. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and her dear friend Julia Stallsworth, whom she loved deeply.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jennifer Cooper (survived by her husband, Sam); her parents, Dorothy Anderson and John Beavers; and her brother, John Beavers (survived by his wife, Margie).

Nancy's legacy is not defined by what she had, but by the love she gave and the countless lives she touched through her compassion, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. She taught us the importance of showing up for the people we love, finding joy in everyday moments, and making everyone feel like family.

Though we will miss her beyond words, we find comfort in knowing that her love will continue to guide us every day. Her strength lives on in her family, her laughter echoes in our memories, and her legacy will be carried forward by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

A Celebration of Life honoring Nancy Cooper will be held at Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. in Toledo, Ohio, on Saturday, August 8th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate her remarkable life, share cherished memories, and honor the love and kindness she gave so freely to everyone she knew.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Nancy's honor to the American Heart Association or a local hospice organization. The family also encourages everyone to honor Nancy's memory by spending time with those you love, sharing a laugh, enjoying a homemade dessert, or turning up a Luke Bryan song in her honor.
